His Majesty King Misuzulu KaZwelithini and the Premier of KwaZulu-Natal Nomusa Dube-Ncube held formal engagements to discuss pertinent matters in the province, administrative and support for the Monarch, the Royal Household and other related issues.
The meeting, which took place at KwaKhangelamankengane Royal Palace was hailed by both His Majesty and the Premier as an honest engagement which will deepen the anchors of solidarity and trust between the Royal Household and KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government.
One of the key issues that was discussed was the Royal Household budget allocation, which the Premier explained that it included compensation of employees, goods and services and transfers to ensure the wellbeing of His Majesty and the Royal family.
Another critical issue that was central to the deliberations during the Premier’s courtesy visit to His Majesty, was the sustainability of the Zulu Royal Household through the Trust.
“We thank Your Majesty for this engagement with us in private and in your sacred space. This has always been our tradition, approach and principle borne out of respect we hold for His Majesty, that we do not discuss matters of the Royal Household in public, no matter the circumstances,” said Premier Dube-Ncube.
The Premier noted the decision by His Majesty to appoint the chairperson of Ingonyama Trust Board as his nominee and the ratification of all board members by the Minister of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development Thoko Didiza.
“We believe this will usher in and deepen the principles of governance, accountability, transparency and oversight,” said the Premier.
One of the highlights of the meeting was the delivery of His Majesty’s official vehicle and the handover thereof by the Premier to His Majesty.
