The Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development, together with the Mpumalanga Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs (DARDLEA), will host the Provincial Climate Smart Agriculture Dialogue.
The goal is to share experiences on agricultural resilience and adaptation to natural disasters. With the world’s population expected to exceed 9 billion by 2050, producing more food on less land in sustainable ways will be crucial. To address the increasing demand for food, countries must develop new strategies and climate-smart actions to enhance agricultural production and eradicate hunger and poverty.
Climate change poses a significant threat to agriculture, particularly affecting smallholder farmers who are less able to adapt. The MEC for DARDLEA, Ms Nompumelelo Hlophe, invites the media and stakeholders to the Dialogue to discuss Climate Smart Agriculture and strategies for making food production systems more resilient, reducing greenhouse emissions, and ensuring food security.
